About

There is no team behind us. There is only us.

We are Ankit and Rushani — two people, one small dream, and a stubborn refusal to offer a place we have not walked. Nothing reaches an itinerary until one of us has done it, got it wrong, and done it again properly. We have unwrapped India over the decades.

Unseen India began because we kept being asked the same question by friends of friends: we want to see India, we have two weeks, we don't want the coach-and-buffet version, where do we actually go? Answering it properly took longer than answering it quickly, so eventually we stopped doing anything else.

That is the whole business model. Fewer places, longer stays, and a route written by the person who drove it — not bought from a supplier catalogue. If neither of us has been somewhere, you will not find it on this site.

Rushani is based in the UK and Ankit is based in India. That means there is always one of us awake during your planning hours — Rushani for the early questions and detailed briefings, Ankit for the live ground checks, reconfirmations and anything that needs a phone call in Hindi. You get both perspectives, and never a gap between the plan and the person on the ground.

We also believe India is the best country to experience on the planet and our takeaway is your validation when you see it through our eyes.

How we plan

We start with the days, not the sights

Most itineraries are lists of monuments with driving in between. We start from what a good day feels like for you — how early you want to be up, how much walking, how long over lunch — and build the route to fit that. The monuments still happen; they just stop dictating the pace.

We cut before we add

Almost every first draft we receive from travellers has one region too many. Removing it is the single biggest improvement we can make. Two regions in a fortnight, not five, and time left for the morning you decide not to leave the hotel.

We only recommend what we would book ourselves

No commission arrangements, no preferred-supplier lists. Some of our favourite stays are heritage havelis and homestays that pay nothing to anyone; a few are famous hotels that genuinely earn it. You are told which is which and why.

We stay with you while you travel

You have one number, and it belongs to whichever of us planned your trip. Delayed flight, closed pass, a child running a temperature in Jaisalmer — that is our problem to solve, not yours to negotiate in a second language.

What we don't do

No coaches

Private vehicle and driver on every trip.

No commission hotels

We recommend only what we'd book ourselves.

One contact

The person who planned it is the person you call.

We also turn work down. If you want nine cities in ten days, or a region neither of us knows properly, we will say so and point you to someone better placed. It costs us a booking and saves you a holiday.

Write to us directly.

Your note lands with Ankit and Rushani — not a booking desk. One of us replies personally within two working days.
